Two years after being released by the UFC, British prospect Muhammad Mokaev could be set to return to the organization in the coming months, though not for an MMA fight.

In a post on Twitter, the flyweight announced that he had received an offer to compete against Mikey Musumeci for the UFC BJJ belt. It could represent a first step toward reintegrating the organization at a promising time for the flyweight division, which now features a new champion, Joshua Van, as well as rising contenders such as Tatsuro Taira and Kyoji Horiguchi.

In 2024, the UFC decided to part ways with Mokaev following his victory over Manel Kape. While the fight itself was intense, the main issue reportedly stemmed from multiple altercations during fight week. Mokaev was widely portrayed as the primary instigator.

Since then, he has continued to develop his career, showing growth and maturity while waiting for another opportunity in the UFC. Now, that opportunity may be approaching, and perhaps even sooner than expected, potentially putting him back into title contention.
